I think we're all guilty of having a pile of doom. My hubby says we should sell our wardrobes as we keep most clothes in a monster ironing pile that hidden behind the settee.

Congratulations on your light bulb moment. We're try and have a treat every now and then (mainly takeaway curry) as it helps keep our focus. We've not had one in months abd hubby promised me on his next pay day!

  • Oh you must find time for self care in there somewhere - I'm pleased you've decided to do that. I crochet a lot to wind down, and my very guilty non mse pleasure is having a cleaner once a week. She will be the last thing I give up to be money saving because she is so good for my mental health and makes a massive difference in my life. I work extra to pay for her and to my mind she's worth every single penny I pay her. You can't spend all of your free time doing housework and DIY - life has to be for living. :D

Good luck with your challenges and clearing your debt. I've subscribed and look forward to cheering you on. Oh and I'm guilty of having a pile of doom (or two) as well!

 Hi Aaleigha. I got your PM but try as I might I can't seem to reply!

We are pretty much bang in the middle, about 20 minutes from Elan Valley so go there regularly.

What brings you to Wales? Do you have connections? You won't regret it!

You see, despite seeming to spend a huge amount of time doing housework, I think we've got ourselves in such a mess (literally), that the piles/rooms/corners of doom just get overwhelming and I don't seem to ever make any progress. And then I feel guilty that the place is still embarrassing, and so the cycle continues.

Today I didn't get around to even venturing into the room of doom, but I did clear out lots of rubbish in the utility and actually found a worktop. :j I even found a pair of long-lost jeans along with other bits that can go to the recycling (too far gone for charity). I nearly threw away a pair of trousers with a hole, but decided not to be so silly as I have nothing to replace them with, so have put them aside to mend.

We nearly managed a NSD today, but the car decided it didn't like running on air, so put a fair amount of fuel in. It's very hard to gauge fuel spends. We both walk to work, but tend to drive the kids to school - week days the car only sees 15 minutes use and rarely fill-up. But then we have long trips back to see family every couple of months, that can easily cost £100 in fuel per trip.

On the plus side, I found a long lost ISA (14 years old!) that I didn't know existed! It's so old the bank doesn't even exist any more, but the one that took over has confirmed there is a balance (£13, but hey..), and they can re-instate it for me. I'm taking paperwork in tomorrow to do that, and this can be the very start of our emergency fund.

On the down side, I found another couple of regular payments that go out from the CC which I'd forgotten about. I need to see if I can find a list so I can cancel any I don't want.

We are very close to finalising figures, so I'll update my signature tomorrow. You can hold me to account then!:rotfl:

Yeah, I have one of those. Except nothing ever gets ironed in this house so I don't even have that excuse...:o I am guilty of finding so many clothes that could have been handed down to our youngest DS, but by the time I find them again, he's grown too much. And these are hidden in plain sight - not even put away in a cupboard. I'm a right mess aren't I?!
  • Oh no you sound just like me! You're definitely not a mess, just normal. My eldest made me laugh last week when she said omg I've not seen this T-shirt's since may! Little monkey she definitely had it on holiday in August.
