So the stuff you bought was just items no sensible person would buy from China?
If i put all the stuff i bought and had no problems with it would be like reading war and peace and then halfway through the domesday book.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I can understand a mobile phone but why would you buy any of those items from China? Apart from the TV they're all relatively easy and cheap to buy fully tested in the UK.ballisticbrian wrote: »So far I've had:
a 3 pin plug the size of a postage stamp with no fuse in it,
car fuses that blow with hardly any load
a TV that didn't have a thermo plastic used around the screen so after a few times of getting hot, the screen surround disintegrated and split.
windscreen wipers that began to break down after a couple of uses
a mains wire that was twice as thin as anything I'd ever seen
numerous items smaller than looked, one placed next to a shoe for reference size (small feet?)
a starter solenoid that failed from the start intermittently, and when I went to take it off the bike and applied a small amount of pressure, all the components fell out.
I could go on...
Please tune in for your next instalment of "Buying from China on eBay."
I will add to your list on useless items bought from China, I bought 10 gross of tape measures that had the wrong measurements on, one inch was about one and a half inches.
I stick to small items that have little chance of being faulty or arriving damaged..0 -

Well this is where it gets even worse. Turns out that a lot of the cheaper end items when you click "uk only" are in fact the same Chinese items bought by traders and resold on the same platform to capture part of the market either wanting items quickly or cheaply.I can understand a mobile phone but why would you buy any of those items from China?
So your question isn't so cut and dry.
With the kind of goods I'm talking about, these small motorbike parts, you can't actually tell what you are getting unless you go to the main dealer where a solenoid costs a wapping 80 quid.
You start looking and comparing what look like identical items and to be honest, you have no idea unless you try it.
Sometimes I wonder if a seller has actually run off with the QC fails bin, and has listed them on eBay for "new".Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Just one store, so that leaves 5 million more that may give you a good experience.
Stick to the rules and you claimed your money back so fairly risk free.
I bought an item that didnt arrive, seller had lots of new feedback saying no item. Claimed my money back and shortly after the seller was NARU. 93 days later the item arrived.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
