New year etc. I'm doing loads of tidying / organising .
Having issues with space in small flat . Love my music ,and have done for many years . I always buy CDs and rip onto iTunes and external hard drive . I did offload lots of records when CDs took off .
Yes I know about Spotify etc, but prefer to keep a physical copy .
So, new year. Out with the old? I'll probably do nothing .
What have I started ?:D
Happy 2019:)

Well, it depends on whether you still get a good feeling handling and listening to vinyl. I still have around 50 LPs but my turntable broke a long time ago and I never replaced it. I can't bear to throw out the LPs.
I know a few people who hate CDs and anything non vinyl. Sales of turntables and vinyl seem to be on the up, although they'll never return to the levels of the old days. Not to mention cassette tape - I've still got my Nakamichi DR2 for goodness sake.
One thing to mention - you may have some valuable vinyl in your collection. Mine are all fairly ordinary, although I did buy a Cat Stevens tea for the Tillerman album that was 'cold pressed' super type vinyl or something. I seem to remember it costing over £20 when a normal LP was still around a fiver. So that sort of thing might be worth a few bob. Don't throw yours away - there are shops that will definitely buy them. I saw a shop recently In Hay on Wye - jam packed with second hand vinyl (and CDs).
Happy new year.1 -
Nobody can tell you whether or not to sell them, that's something you have to decide for yourself1

I don't really see 21st century man searching through loads of records trying to find the right album and then trying to drop his tonearm on the correct track. Vinyl is very fashionable and will always have a following but will soon decline. It's strange seeing records that I bought for £3 from CBS nice price now selling for nearly £30 in HMV. I have plenty of vinyl but am very tempted to sell at current prices.1

If you don't want them I'll give them a good home in my collection1

Dont believe the hype. Rip and move on"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson1

The revival has been led in no small part by the hipster community getting into retro stuff, it's a phase. Some people will swear by vinyl until they die, the rest just move on with the technology producing better sound, free from crackle and scratches and if anyone really wants to make their CDs sound "warm" (lol!) then get a valve amp.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I have a few 12" classic singles
Such as THRILLER, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, SPACE ODDITY and GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
I don't think that they are ever going to be worth anything - but I am loathe to dump them..
most are picture disks - I used to display them on my walls - in clear plastic envelopes !
I do have the original sleeves1 -
I sold all of mine (4 carry cases full) on Ebay last year, and although most only made £5-10, it added up to a tidy amount. The ones that made the most were not the ones that I expected - the copy of the White Album with original poster didn't make much, but the early pressing of Caravan's "If I could do it all over again, I'd do it all over you" went for far more than I thought it would.
I set a basic rule - that if it wasn't going to fetch £5 then I couldn't be bothered to ship it. Even so, shipping individual LPs is a very very tedious process, and you need to get good at making your own shipping outers very quickly. The dozen or so that failed the £5 rule got given away on Freegle.
[Edit: and remember: don't list too many at once! I listed 20 at one stage, all finishing on the same day - believe me, that's too many to package and label up in one go...]1
