Best 4tb portable drive if there is one?

Hi folks,

I am on the lookout for a 4TB portable drive similar to the 2TB My passport one that I have used now for a number of years, but is becoming full of data that I don't want to delete, hence the reason for a new drive.

Should I just stick with a WD My Passport 4TB or you can think of a better drive that maybe has a longer warranty, don't want to pass the £100 mark.

On the first page they run from £80 to £120, so you should be able to find something in your price range.



Personally I use ones like this for the extra physical shock protection, having lost data when I dropped a drive in the past.

But don't completely depend on this as they will not protect against mechanical failure which is something that ultimately happens to every hard drive at some point. Always take backups.

4 TB drives have the reputation of being a bit flaky, compared with those of lesser capacity, but I haven't had any problems with the two WD drives I've had for about six months...

Just reminded me, I really should backup/clone my SSD. Not done a backup for a while.

I have been using Seagate backup plus drives since June (4 of the 4tb ones) to carry movies etc around while travelling (I travela lot for work). Not had any issues with them yet.
