18th birthday trip ideas

My dd will be 18 in May and I would like to take her away for a trip, her sister got a trip to Iceland for her 18th, but we are struggling to come up with ideas, she has suggested a spa weekend in the uk with the dog but then tells me her dad is taking her for a spa break to coincide with his 55th birthday.
Any suggestions?
Not sure that my budget will be as such as it needs to be the right holiday at the right price!! Probably in the region of £200 per person for a two night break

well seeing as you mentioned a spa how about Budapest.
Its a nice city, good food and drink, lots to see and reasonably cheap oh and lots of spa's tooLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Does she have any suggestions other than a spa weekend in the UK?
If I were treating someone to a break, I'd be asking for suggestions from them to ensure it was what he/she wanted.0 -
How about Amsterdam? It's easy to get to, is pretty 'hip' with everything from sights to shopping, and has something for all tastes.
(I am a bit biased as I'm going back for a fourth time for my birthday next weekend. First time round I took my three children (then aged 10-15) and they loved it). We stayed in a typical canal house near the flower market and did the full tourist bit, museums, canal cruise, Anne Frank Haus, diamond museum.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Swanage or Sandbanks with the dog.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

unfortunately she can't make any other suggestions, she says she doesn't know what she wants to do, I am getting to the stage of saying we are not going anywhere!!The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

Maybe she doesn't fancy the idea of going away with her parents. If she is independently minded she might prefer to go somewhere with friends.0 -

I think that would be a little unfair; is it that she is lacking in imagination about where she would like to go. Can you look at the internet together to decide where to go? What are her interests.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

No she has said she would like to go away with me (I am divorced from her dad) but when we start talking about where she draws a blank!
Having said that, unless I am convinced it is something she wants to do I won't be doing it.
Her sister really wanted to go to Iceland that is why I did that for her 18th but doesn't mean I have to do the same for herThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

It is hard to say what the problem is - we did go through a few things like if it was in UK it would have to be no more than a 2/3 hour drive as we only have the weekend, but she is being very vague. A couple of years ago we went to Dublin for the weekend and I got very annoyed with her as she seemed to have no interest in exploring the city - we ended up at the zoo one day and that was it! We have a zoo at home! I'm not sure that she has changed that much and my worry about going to a European City is that she won't do anything when we get thereThe mind is like a parachute.
