What's a 2 story extension across the back going to cost £30k, £50k or more

£200k is buying 4 beds within a mile and there is a choice £200k-£220k
  • Thanks Keith and getmore4less...

Yeah mother-in-law lives round the corner and has spare rooms if need be.

These other houses are what I'm arguing with myself about Haha.

I want this to be the 'forever' home.

    I've got option 1..
.go for something like this house
    .spend about 220k after works
.have the house I want with 4 double bedrooms
.perfect area/ facing the right way / cul-de-sac
.have to put up with the disruption of building
.maybe not get planning permission I'm wanting

    Option 2
.go for the existing 4 beds around 200-220k
    .areas not as nice
    .most have 2 single(box rooms)
    .no disruption of extending

    The house is there when I searched a 1950s map. I knew it wasnt a new-build. Probably a 40's at a guess.

https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/448533/393188/10/101322 - At a guess, I'd say late 70s early 80s build. Certainly not a 1940s house - The garden would have been much bigger and it would have had a chimney (as would all the other houses nearby).

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

    The house is mid 1980s
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • You're allowed to apply for planning permission even if you don't own the property. I would strenuously suggest that you have a conversation with the local planning people before making any offers.
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
  • My mistake.. 1980s sounds much more realistic!
