Cosmetic Research Online aka Ayton Moon

I signed up with this lot years ago, and I've only ever had two products to try out. I'm not actually complaining about that, I didn't expect a lifetime of free cosmetics ;)

What does annoy me though is that they constantly email me asking me to update my profile because they are trialling a new product. They claim that this is so that they can offer trials to as many people as possible. Despite updating regularly for me and the rest of the family I haven't had a sniff of a freebie for well over a year now.

I've been laboriously filling in questionnaires about all sorts of details, including everybody's dress size and what toilet cleaner we use! What on earth has this got to do with cosmetics research? Now I think I've been had. I reckon that with the vague offer of freebies what they are actually doing is recruiting punters for market research. I think it's a flaming cheek to gather so much information without offering anything in return! Other consumer research sites like Pinecone give you rewards like luncheon vouchers but Ayton Moon give me a big hairy nothing in return for completing their boring and fiddly forms.

Is it just me, or are they taking the mickey?

Maybe you don't fit the profiles for whatever they are testing?

Sometimes I update my questions and get no tests, but other times I update and I qualify. One of my family was accepted on a trial earlier today!
Here I go again on my own....

I've been signed up with them for longer than I can remember, and just recently stopped updating my profile - I seemed to get a lot of emails asking me to do this, but I was still not being invited to join any trials.

Then, earlier this week, I was invited to join a trial for antiperspirant spray...even though I've told them I don't use it...

    D.
  • I joined maybe a few month's ago was asked to update my profile last week and today sent an email to join a trial for cream for heel's.
Did have a small problem locating trial though think that was down to me not clearing search boxes so all signed up and ready to go.
Maybe it is to do with the criteria as I have updated mine twice so basically the more you have ticked the more chance you have I think

I dont find that site very user -friendly. Why not send them an email-they dont usually reply though! I get loads of trials through. I cant be bothered to do them, and I tooo find the constant "update your profille" time consuming for little reward

Thing is though them asking you to update your profile could be prompting you to tick:rotfl:as after I did i recieved a trial, then again maybe not.

Took me a wee bit of reading and clear search boxes and all done now:T
    And tbh it is free:p;)
Wait until I have a problem will be moaning :o:rotfl:

Edited to say just sent them an email an hour ago as had a question and I got very prompt reply(emailed from own addy and not site one)

Perhaps the trick is to tell a load of lies and claim that I use more products than I really do!

Possibly the problem is that I often tick the boxes saying that I usually use supermarket own-brand products. Maybe I'll attract more "luxury" trials if they think I'm the sort of person who uses pricey products.

I think I'll have to adopt a few more children, invent a bigger house and hammer my credit card in Harvey Nichols :p

I used to get loads of stuff to trial for this company and then it just stopped. Might have to go and update my details and see if this triggers a response........
