delivery / not! from citylink

I bought an item from Ebuyer which is/was being delivered by Citylink.

I called on Wed to find out whats happening and they told me there's a note on the system that driver noted 'incorrect postcode' on their system. I confirmed the postcode - which was what they had, so the chap said he'd arrange re-deliv for Thurs between 9-5.
At midday Thurs i called re:progress, and they said the parcel's still at the depot, and not been scheduled for redelivery - as i'd been told the day before..so the lady suggested redelivery for Fri..i point blank refused - said i cant be sat hanging around - so said i'd come in person - asked what i needed, and she said a utility bill with your full address on - i said Fine and set off...
I'd been misdirected, but found their depot anyway; they were abit tetchy cos i didnt have a delivery card - but once i explained to them 'in the queens english' all of the above - the parcel was found :j

Now that i'm home - i've discovered that the reason they'd never found my flat is cos theres 2 lines missing from the address label - and NO POSTCODE!!
its like:
Jane Doe
1 buckinghm palace
london
UK

altho my mob no's on there - i can see the address label's printed off by CityLink - and in anycase, i had to give Euyer my full address cos paid using a CC.

What sort of action should i take ? This cannot be acceptable, surely ?

i work for DHL and have trouble delivering items with incorrect postcodes. The courier company print out their labels with the information given to them, they dont decide which bits to put on a label and which bits to miss out!!

So do u think that its Ebuyers fault that they only had a partial address without a blimmin postcode on it ???

well you would need to speak to ebuyer as they chose the courier so its up to them.
i would expect at least the courier fee refunded.
as a side note i get stopped almost daily by couriers trying to find delivery points with incomplete addresses.
i often wonder if working for RM i should withold this info or not

i've got to say the posties that i see when i'm delivering are absolutley lovely pointing out addresses that are really hard to find. I have quite a few deliveries that they are along dirt tracks or new builds and they always post (excuse the pun) me in the right direction!

I think you will find that the labels are printed at ebuyers warehouses just using CityLinks labels, so would seem it was an Ebuyer error - However I did hear on the grapevine today that CityLink are having problems at the moment due to merger/buyout - so that may have also had an impact on things!
  • It is impossible for a Citylink label to be printed without a postcode. Postcode is not under the main address but on the bottom of the label. The postcode routes the parcel to the correct depot.

    Citylink suck.

Every other courier can find find my house. Can they? No. Can they find it when they've been given directions the last time I spoke to them, and finally managed to get a delivery? No. Would I bet they could find their rears, when allowed to use both hands and a torch?

Can I pick it up from the Manchester depot? No. If I'd wanted to pick the item up from Manchetser I'd have gone to a shop.
