We are about to do a house refurbishment. Our architect did all the drawings and also did all the structural drawings for the 3 new steel support beams and columns that need to go in.
The architect company has now gone into liquidation and closed down. The builder is happy to use the architect drawings and structural drawings. My worry is if something goes wrong on the build on the structural side of things then where do I stand?
Should I get new structural drawings done by a new company? If so I will probably have to get all the architect drawings re-done too as I don’t have the DWG plans from the liquidated architect that the Structural Company will need. All together this will cost me ££££.

I suspect your architect would have been a member of a trade association. Maybe they have a helpline you could ask if they will appoint someone else if the need arises?0

I guess you need to know if your surveyor had professional indemnity insurance and if so, did he pay the latest premium so that you would be coveredChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Can you not carry on with what you have & worry about a problem if & when it happens? If the builder is happy & building control are happy there shouldn't be a problem. If a problem crops up then another structural engineer can sort that out.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
