Screw hole repair

Options
Hi
One of our curtain poles supports came off and I need to refix it. There are three supports and only one has come off so i need to fix it back on same place. The screen hole is a bit damaged when support fell off. It is masonary wall. Do I fill the hole with something and then re drill?

Thanks

  • Depending on how bad the damage is, you could try those wet and fix strips with a new wall plug. They work well.

i would remove all of them and put a piece of 3x1
wood on the wall and place on there. You can always change the poles easy in future also
  • just trim some rough timber with a knife so its a tight fit in the hole, hammer it in and screw into that.

If in doubt, spray some water in to the hole then poke a dollop of (water based) grab adhesive in. Push a wall plug in so that it goes in a bit deeper than the plaster. Use a slightly longer screw and do it up hand tight. A day or so later, give the screw another tweak.

Or simply go old school and use matchsticks to plug the hole.
