the post office have targets they have to reach in respect of delivering mail in a cirtain ammount of time (97% first class next working day?) if this is not done then they can be fined. with all the mail posted just b4 and during the strike all that mail will be late and the earlyest bags from the first day of strikes being at the bottom of the pile so these will be left till the specific sorting office has spare time after sortiing and making sure current post is delivered within time limits. so could be stuck there for some time. i have been told that my local office still has 30- 40 sacks piled up in the corner of the sorting office which is down from hundreds during / just after the strike been told they are getting down them at 2-3 a day.
