Left ARVO in March 18. Now they say we owe them money??

Options
Hi All

Has anyone else experienced this from Arvo. We moved house in February 2018 and at that time ARVO was the current supplier for gas and electricity. In march we switched to Bulb. We paid our final bill and that was the end of that.

However, on 17th December, we received an email from ARVO stating that our final bill has now been produced and we owed £147.81.

We questioned this as we had paid our monthly premium and a final balance in March. Also asking the question that if we do owe them money, why has it taken them 9 months to contact us to collect it.

Can they do this??

Yes, but they must evidence their calculations and let you check them. Did you keep a record of your final meter reads and do they match what's on the final bill?

What have you been billed for (in March and December) ?

You should be able to calculate the energy used between the opening readings in February to the final readings in March. You also know the payments that you have made.

Compare these with the bills, and if they don't match, contact Avro for an explanation, and if necessary make a written complaint.

As above, hopefully you've kept details of your final meter readings and previous bills so you can determine whether the bill is valid as it's going to be pretty difficult to backtrack if you don't have your own records

They have up to six years to chase you for the final bill

Like any of the supply companies, Avro have up to 6 years to correct billing.

    However

Until Avro issue you a revised Final Bill that shows Dates, Meter Readings & Unit Prices etc, as a demand for money the Email isn't worth the kb's used to write it
