Help - mould under wallpaper

Options
Hi

We've stripped the wallpaper from our bedroom and found this dark/purple/red mould underneath. Does anyone have experience of what to do about this?

We are due to skim the walls with plaster before painting them.

Any help much appreicated!

    Welcome to MSE. :)

Investigate the underlying problem or root cause before you cover it up. Where in the property or where in the room, and what is above/ below/ behind the problem area(s) may provide clues.

Bedrooms can be sited in basements or penthouse apartments, Victorian terraces or barn conversions ... Mould can be on ceilings, chimney breasts or around windows prone to condensation and so on.

Please wear a protective mask when dealing with mould, and ventilate the room well.
