Hi,
Got two of these broken on my outside walls. Can someone please tell me what are these called (air vents?), where can I buy these and how to replace these?

Size I measured is 216 x 67 cm.
I can see b&q selling these, these look a bit bigger though: https://www.diy.com/departments/manrose-terracotta-brick-vent/258895_BQ.prd

Thanks,
these say: 229 x 152mm, so is my measurement wrong? or these are measured differently (inside is small?) ?
and also, how are these replaced?0 -
Measure it again.
They are £2 at screwfix.0 -
Measure including the mortar either side , these are the size of a normal sized brick
Remove the mortar from round them , the fact that it's partially broken will make it easier to remove . Smash the centre of need be and pull both halves outEx forum ambassador

Browntoa said above - need to chip out the mortar around it and then break it out.
You need to make some mortar then to set the new one back in to. You can buy small bags of ready mixed.
Bit of a faff if you aren't used to using a trowel and mortar but not a difficult job in that position.
Is it full of mortar and blocked though anyway? looks like it in the photo.0 -
I'm not a great fan of other peoples youtube videos but this one shows you what to do and what not to do!

obviously DONT break the other bricks around it like this guy does.
And pull all the mess out, don't let it drop in to the cavity.0 -
Don't think it is blocked.
So, I'll clean it out, take out everything, including mortar and push the new one in and set it with some ready mixed mortar. Hope that's all then?
Also, any idea if I can buy these with some kind of inside-mesh to keep the mice away?0 -
Bigger vent but same principle

You can add your own mesh but it reduces air flow. These ones with vent strips should stop mice anywayEx forum ambassador
