Can anyone shed light on the law pertaining to stick on window charges?

They state they issued the charge and provided photo of it stuck to the car window. (clock starts ticking)

I return to car and no ticket in sight, non the wiser I leave.

Letter comes through door, demanding hugely elevated cost and no chance to appeal.

Now I appreciate not being savvy with the ins and outs of such issues that ive probably ballsed it all up at the beginning by trying to appeal as 'driver' when the 'NTK' letter arrived.

Well now I have my threatening solicitors letter (still addressed to my wife) demanding full payment of £122 or risk death by fire and brim stone.

Seen as ive tried to air my case at everypoint they have contacted me (to no avail) is my only option now to ride it out to court in the hope that I get a sensible judge who will listen to my case? Or am I likely to get bent over and shafted for double the cost?!

Is there any companies that help with these issues? found one but thankfully steered clear as later discovered it to be a scam!

Ghost tickets. The scammers have proof one was put on the car. You say it was not there later so it was probably removed by person or persons unknown or by a freak weather event or by accident.

Unless you can prove anything to the contrary you are stuck with the facts as presented by the scammers.

If the registered keeper has received court papers, then they are the person who must deal with this. If the driver has been identified but the keeper is being pursued, then this is a cause for complaint to the SRA, BPA, and your MP.

Alternatively the keeper can defend this on non PoFA compliant NTK up to the point where the scammers realise they have the wrong defendant and go after the driver.

I know of no company that will take this on for you, and wouldn't recommend one if I did. I suspect the regulars here will say the same thing.

You are already in the best place to deal with this, for free. Why would you want to pay for an inferior service?

What did your MP say when you complained? What did the hospital management/CEO say?

Seeing as the OP was parked on a bit of "waste" ground, would it be of interest to check to see if the ppc was entitled to ticket someone on that ground? SAR for their contract terms?

Good point. Was this land part of the car park? What is the boundary of the land the scammers are contracted to mis-manage? Is this land clearly marked and signed as part of the mis-managed car park? Are there any signs, and if so, are they forbidding if this is not part of the car park they mis-manage?

There is no law pertaining to private tickets at all. It's like the Wild West.

So in regards to the where I parked, it was on a hospital site, so im presuming covered as land owned and operated by the tenent (Hospital). I had no desire to get away with the ticket and would have happily paid the initial £20.

This parking firm has since been replaced at the hospital and replaced with ParkingEye, the joys.

So seen as Ive been doing it all wrong and contacting them as the driver when all correspondance are addressed to my wife, is she better to contact them and ask for a POPLA number?

I appreciate I already stated I was driving and potentially ruined my case but I dont mind paying the charge, im just not prepared to pay this extortionate charge when I wasnt given the correct opportunity to pay the origional fee.

At this rate it will be court, and I really dont need this right now, im trying to complete my MSc, job hunt, and sit national exams. I just want it out my life, but I also dont have the money to pay the extortionate fee as it now stands!
