I forgot to say that I switched power suppliers at the end of the 12/18 month contract (whichever it was!)
At the end of TalkTalk contract I asked to be put through to the disconnection dept - they call it the loyalty dept! Big discount resulted.
Bought my annual travel insurance thro' TCB.Didn't make it cheap, but made it much better value.
Bought some cheapie magazine subs as presents- also thro' TCB. One was £9.99 for 6 months + £18 free cookery book, with £4 cashback. Seems a good £6 present.-
Had some very cheap plants from Morrisons- probably wouldn't have bought otherwise! My 3 x Christmas cacti bought @ 17pence each after flowering in Feb? turned out to be 3 different colours and were flowering their socks off in Nov.
Yes, I too use my store loyalty cards. The one with the biggest reward seems to be the local co-op.(not the Manchester one.) You get extra for buying local products & fruit & veg. Then in Nov they vote to increase the divi earned over the year, usually an extra 80 pence per £1 earned.
Happy money saving wishes for 2019 to all :jBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I always save the vouchers rather than spend in store at face value.
They are also x 3 for Eurotunnel tickets between Folkestone and Calais but if you only book an outbound ticket you can't use points to book your return so if you want to return the same way you need to book a return at the time. Look at the website for full details.

This year was when I really figured out the meaning of "pay yourself first". I set up DD's & SO's to investments & savings accounts so the money is gone before I can spend it.
This is what we do. work out what you need for essential expenditure and then set up a standing order for the excess on payday to a separate savings account. we have a couple of regular savers 5% with FD at 300 per month and then 3% at 200 per month with Santander0 -
'Could you do around a hundred perhaps?' !!! the power of the internet meant that within ten minutes I was in production.
6 knitted stuffed swirly patterned balls at £10.00 a pop and £2.00 for postage has given me enough to pay towards. a five day holiday with my DDs ma-in-law at the seaside next spring:):) I ended up doing around 288 balls and earning £200
