The problem is I can probably only do this for one year, otherwise they'll end up with way too many bags.
Waste was reducing then made the mistake of ordering a picture frame from Amazon and now have masses of packaging to recycle. I really must stop using Amazon.0 -

Came across you guys today and think you are doing amazingly well. I have been working towards a low waste lifestyle for a while, I do struggle with my family though, we would do so much better if they would give up some things (Pringles - I'm looking at you).
I have found the bathroom the easiest area to make a difference and the kitchen the hardest. We buy everything we can second hand, all our clothes are second hand except undies of course but we only buy what we need. I do hate the nasty plastic tagging thing though that they use everywhere, can you imagine how many of those things are floating around?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I'm sure I saw that Pringle tubes are recyclable via Terracycle? If you can't break them of the habit, perhaps there's a way to recycle them in your area? HTH.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I find the Terracycle site a bit confusing TBH. The search function on the map for the free recycling seems a bit hit and miss. I find it hard to believe there isn't a crisp packet recycling site within 10 miles for example.
However at least I have found somewhere to recycle DD2s contact lenses. Though as our council will accept most stuff for recycling I've been putting the pods in with the plastic and the foil in with the metals - I did check and they will take foil.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

That's a great idea I never thought of that.
I've also been using the contact lens recycling its really good, although I don't think many people are using it.
Really looking forward to the Loop products hitting the UK, think it will make a big change.
The news items at the moment are quite interesting regarding the discussions of the bottle deposit schemes (I agree it should be on all bottle sizes), the amount of 2 litre bottles I see dumped in general waste bins rather than recycling a deposit scheme should give people a lot more incentives. I like the idea of them standardising recycling schemes, this will hopefully improve the situation.
There was also mention this morning of bringing clothing recycling to all areas, which is definitely a must.
Fingers crossed for improvements coming.0 -

Could you re-use:
Storage containers for raw spaghetti/pasta/nuts
storage in sheds (nuts/bolts/nails)
storage in craft room (string - pop a hole in the plastic lid and thread string through), pens knitting needles, crochet hooks
Moneybox
Decorate or cover container and fill with homemade biscuit/sweets

ziggy - I think I have repurposed as many jam jars, tubs and boxes that I can now, I have tubs with batteries in, screws and other bits like that, electrical leads, batteries waiting for recyling, hair clips, the list goes on. I haven't sent anything to Terracycle as yet, I think they send out a prepaid label but aren't they a charity? If so that would be an expense for them or for me, particularly if sending Pringles tubes.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I'm making Xmas advent calendars with my Pringle tubes - see Pinterest. They're really nice. You can shape them into a Xmas tree shape and it will stand on the side. Xx
With the bags - just ask for them back to reuse for next year xx0
