Advice on removing built-in TV cabinet

Hello,
We recently moved-in to a new house and would like advice on removing a built-in TV cabinet.
The cabinet currently sits in the living room joined to an alcove wall and a wall that sits against our stairs.
The cabinet includes a middle gap within which you can place a router, TV box etc.
In this gap is a plug socket which sits on the wall against our stairs. There is a hole around this which I will need to fix also.
We want to remove the cabinet so we can lay new carpet in the living room, free-up this space, and place our TV attached to the wall going forward.
Our concerns are that there could be piping/wiring underneath the box which would prevent us from laying carpet.
I do have images of the cabinet that I am happy to email through if this is easier.
Any advice here would be great. We would like to try undertaking as work ourselves as possible to save on costs.
Thank you
Louis

It's not clear what would be the problem if there are pipes or wires under the floor at this point.0
