Parking problems

Hi,

Opposite my home there is 4 puplic parking spaces, 3 of them are taken up by cars which never move 2 of them by on person the cars haven’t moved in over a year,

1 vehicle is sorn with no MOT and another is taxed and MOT,

Are they legally around to park there if the vehicle is sorn? I don’t think there is much we can do about the other dumped car as taxed, he refuses to move them, which creates parking problems for other residence,

Any advice how I can deal with this??

Thanks

    This surely is a matter for your council, this board deals with private parking tickets.

    As far as the car that is SORN'd is concerned, you can report it here;

    https://www.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle

    obviously this is only valid if the vehicle is being kept on a public road. If it is then the keeper will be facing a hefty penalty.

    If the land is privately owned, only the landowner can deal with this.
    If the land is part of an adopted public road, then a complaint can be made to the DVLA as advised above.

    You would need to contact the council to determine if the land is public.

    You would need to apply to the Land Registry to find out who owns it if it is not public. This costs a few quid.

    Be aware that land adjoining a public road may be privately owned.

  • The spaces they are parked in are for anyone to park in and believe they are not privately owned so looks like I’ll try reporting to council 1st,
    Annoying thing is the person who parks there has a free space on his drive but refuses to move his cars,
