PIP assessment failed or christmas payment issue?

I fairly recently had a reassessment for PIP (end of September). Payments have seen no change in frequency or the amount since the assessment. I have not received any communication except for a text message at the start of October saying the report has been received by the DWP. I received a christmas bonus of £10 on the 20th December.
However this months payment (which has just happened) has been received on the correct 28 days later date but was for exactly 20 days worth of PIP payment instead of 28 days.
The payment was a fast payment (instead of normal bank transfer) and was something like this: DWP FP GB LP
Initially I assumed I must have lost my award because of the reassessment or because I send them regular updates which they have used to take away the award.
However, I am not so sure because there have been some planned changes to Christmas payments i.e. that the payments would be made earlier. My payment was made on the correct date, only for 20 days.
Is the DWP trying its luck at taking away my award or is this just a payment issue?

A decision has most likely been made. Payments are usually for less money during Christmas if you're paid earlier. You'll most likely receive the decision letter very soon, if not the give them a ring on Monday morning when they open.confusedrabbit wrote: »I fairly recently had a reassessment for PIP (end of September). That's not true, if payments are advanced for Christmas they will be for the usual amount barring other changes."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I had my PIP payment early too (got it today instead of Tuesday) and it was for my normal amount.
Like you I had a new assessment in the middle of last year, normal amount being paid, until three months later when my payment suddenly dropped by £100.
Two weeks after that I received my “new award” letter.
By this time I had phoned them, so I knew what was going on.
I’ve never heard of a fast payment for pip though.
Didn’t they pay it, so you had to call them to get them to pay you? That’s the only way I know of for them to issue a “fast payment”
If your still worried, call them on Monday.0 -
Sorry, it was a typo in my previous comment and it should have read payments are not usually for less money. My daughter had her PIP early too which was for the usual amount.sammyjammy wrote: »That's not true, if payments are advanced for Christmas they will be for the usual amount barring other changes.0 -
Thank you for the answers here.
It seems it is not clear what has happened but I have a feeling my situation is the same as SteveBrum's. It could well be the case that they have indeed made a negative decision but I wonder why they didn't inform me yet and why it is now over three months since the assessment. I suppose things can take time.
I will have to contact them in the new year I think.0 -
N.B. I never called them to arrange a fast payment. I don't know why they used fast payment as a method for the transfer.0

If the award is lower than previously then payments can change before a letter is received, perfectly normal for this to happen. It's the same as when you first apply, payments usually go into your bank before you receive the decision letter.confusedrabbit wrote: »Thank you for the answers here.

No need to wait until the New year to ring, they are open Monday from 8am.0 -
I see. You guys have been very helpful, thank you. I am fairly certain now that it is not to do with the Christmas schedule.
I am sure that I would have an excellent chance at appeal given the fact that I am extremely unwell. Additionally, the rate of success of 71% at appeal is encouraging although extremely concerning from a disability rights point of view. I would prefer if the government would be straight and just say we know you are ill but we can't afford to pay you because the system failed ten years ago or whatever happened.0 -

No need to apologise, I did wonder if it was a typo, you are always very on the ball with your advice

Hi, my take on what you have said is that there is so much money in the pot to be paid out and when this amount is reached.
They then have no choice but to turn some people down by the time their appeal has gone though and its won, its their turn to have money from the pot, as so it goes on
So the amount in the pot is paid0
