BT - persistent mis-billing. Sue them in Small Claims

I have had 2 years of persistent mis billing - errors in the amounts BT have been collecting . Despite continued calls from me (over 12 in two years and approx 40 hrs spent trying to resolve these errors they keep re appearing.

I am now going to pursue them for my time wasted and hassle i have encountered. Obviously first stop is BT complaints ho will kick back i am sure and then Ombudsman thereafter - i am not concerned at what either of they 'decide' as i am resolved to hit them with an invoice for my time spent and hassle.

I have done this with parking companies and it always get their attention - £10 an hour has been viewed as 'reasonable' by the financial ombudsman in the past and i have used this figure with some success to recover costs and expenses from parking companies who have tried sending spurious parking tickets

Anyone aware of anyone who has been successful with BT in Small Claims in this regard?

Many thanks

  • When I had a problem with my BT bill (billed for calls I didn't make, which was down to an ongoing line fault that caused a lot of white noise on my line) I started with a formal complaint submitted online saying I believed they were attempting to defraud me as there was no way I could have made the calls (I was at work and had witnesses to that effect).

Got a call from the complaints department two days later and the charges were removed. Took about 10 minutes on the phone.
