Economy Energy
Options
Hundreds of people are owed money by Economy Energy who refuse to pay any of it back. I left on October 30th with my account over £180 in credit. I sent them my final meter reading too. They took more money- quite illegally - from my bank account in November. Despite numerous requests, they have not paid this or the rest of my money back. Instead, they have constantly fobbed me off with pathetic excuses. I followed advice given onTrustPilot and did a DirectDebit Indemnity through my bank and recovered the November payment. I will repeat this in the New Year until I get most of or ALL my money back.
EE are in serious financial trouble and likely to fold soon. Anyone wanting their money back, act now. Go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau for free, impartial advice and do it ASAP, as once this company folds, you’ll never see a penny of your money!

When a supplier goes under, Ofgem appoints a Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR). The SoLR will honour ALL consumer credits under what is known as the Ofgem Safety Net. The Safety Net is paid for by all suppliers (or more accurately, their customers). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Just got my latest bill, £78 in debit on electric, expect them to fold anyday.0

Will this include the 250 + EX customers (that I know of in December alone) who have already switched to another company?0

Yes.
Quote: I'm in credit with Spark Energy – how do I get it back?
Ofgem says that once a new supplier has been appointed, it will pay back any outstanding credit you may have.
Once the regulator has appointed the new supplier, you will be contacted to explain how this will work. Ofgem says you should take a meter reading and a note of your balance, and wait for the new supplier to get in touch.
If you've switched or you're in the process of switching away from Spark Energy, any remaining credit is protected under Ofgem's 'safety net' scheme. Unquote Source: MSEThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
