Keeping car insurance address at parents?
I moved out of my parents house 6 months ago, about 1.5 miles down the road. My insurance is up for renewal and I have been quoted an extra £500 using my new address. My car is parked at my parents all day while i am at work (My mum does the afternoon school run) and I drive back home and park in my building's private car park in the evenings. Would using my parents address to get the cheaper quote invalidate any claim considering my car is parked there the majority of the time?? The price I got quoted for my parents address was £100 less than last year!

You'll likely be asked where the car is parked (A) during the day and (B) at night. It's advisable to tell the truth about both of these things, as well as everything else!0

Don't lie. A cancelled policy will cost you an absolute fortune forever if you're found out. This is one of those occasions where I'd ring and explain exactly where the car is kept overnight and during the day. It really isn't worth the risk.0

Suggest adding your mum as a named driver, might cut into the extra £500.0

Why drive the mile and a half each way, anyway?0

you know it is wrong which is why you ask.0

Insurance fraud. You know it should be at your address. The fact it is parked at your parents address when you're at work is no different than if it was parked in your employers car park and you most certainly wouldn't put their address down as yours would you so I think you know the answer.
So when you're filling out the forms you need to put your real address, that the vehicle is parked away from home during the day and at home in a garage at night. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I "Where is the car usually kept during the day?
Where is the car usually kept during the overnight?"
The 2 questions that are asked, its obvious what to answer.
Alos the renewal quote, have yiu shopped around for quotes or just basing it on tje renewal? Renewal is mostly always higher.0 -

I'm not sure where this idea from, my mum doesn't have a driving licence, she walks to the school as it's 10 mins away from her house.0
