This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

• Good morning all

Gentle hugs to all those who want/ need them

Had a little more sleep last night so must get on and do a few jobs. Need to vacuum, didn't get done yesterday.
Then sort 'the just in case' bits. Just in case someone visits, no one does, so a packet of chocolate shortbread, cake and sweets, I'm sure DH will enjoy.
I enjoy savoury things so I think I'll make soup for lunch, still have red peppers growing.

Take care all

Morning everyone

silver-oldie - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here but dry underfoot and not raining at the moment.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, they got finished early yesterday and he's hoping for the same today - we'll see.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, bubble and squeak and beans, was lovely. Tonight we'll be having turkey curry and rice.

Yesterday I went to town to visit the bank and building society and bought a birthday prezzie in a half price sale. Just chilled at home for the rest of the day although I did make sausage rolls and cook the cocktail sausages.

On to today, I'll be heading to the SM first thing, just to get a few fresh bits for the weekend and into next week, hoping to not spend too much.
I still need to sort the fridge out although it's much emptier than it was.

I'll be washing, drying and ironing later. I won't be doing too much as I'm working tomorrow.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all.

Thanks for starting us off SO.

It's been pouring down all night though it should be calm today. Still milder than it should be.

Today I WILL do some marking. :( The only domestic chore which needs doing is vacuuming round the stove end of the living room where the logs are. I'll do that tomorrow before I go back to Glasgow as it's the place for the new chair.

No shopping needed :j no washing needed done :j dishwasher not full enough :j That means I have time to finish off my new book - after marking. :(

I wish everyone a happy Friday.
• Good morning everyone, it was a quiet day for me yesterday, a bit of domestic catching up, and I wrote and posted two thank you letters, and did a lot of reading. Very relaxing.

Today I'm with friends all day, playing card games and Scrabble, an annual tradition. We all take something to share for lunch.

Then a quiet evening. This suits me fine, as I'm in full on hibernating tendencies while the days are so short and grey outside. I'll be better by the beginning of February, when there's noticeably more daylight. In the meantime, hygge strategies are a great help.

Hugs to all in need. Be careful out there, and I hope you have the best day possible. xxx
• Morning folks and thanks SILVER-OLDIE. Glad you had a bit better night. After my decent sleep in yesterday I was back to tossing and turning again last night.

The 2 DGDs were late getting back from the panto last night and both hyper. They decided they were "a little bit hungry" so we were making cheese on toast at 10.30! Finally got them up to bed at 11.15 so I hope they sleep in a bit this morning. Good job no school!

They are performing in the matinee show today and getting picked up at 12.30. So it will be an early lunch for them. My DB, who is STILL on the lookout for the perfect sausage after our original supplier retired over two years ago, brought yet more up for us to try out, so they are earmarked for lunch. Middle DGD loves a nice sausage so I await her opinion!

The Friday Tidy will have to be postponed. May do the kitchen and bathroom this afternoon once the girls have gone and leave the dusting and vaccing till tomorrow.

Have a good day folks if you can and, as always, (((HUGS)) aplenty for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who need them. Take care xx

Morning :santa2:

I watched two animal films yesterday, they were very different from each other – Peter Rabbit and Rampage. The first was cute and funny, the second was over-the-top ridiculous but they were both brilliant :D

I forgot that mr tru swapped his day off so he could have an extra day at Christmas, which means he's going in to work today, which means I have the whole day to myself :j

I'm going to start with what I hope will be a peaceful walk with Scamp, then I want to sort through the fridge and freeze anything which is close to needing to be used up. After that – nothing :D

Morning all,
I am tired today after having the family round yesterday, it went very well although my poor DB was suffering with a bad back and was obviously in a lot of pain :( That’s the last major celebration of the festive season, we don’t do much at NYE and are usually in bed before midnight!
I have been having some really strange dreams over the last nights, must be all the rich food, last night I was running through a city trying to get away from an invading army, apparently I was thrashing around in my sleep so was obviously getting into it all.
Hugs to all poorlies, those with worries and cares, hope you all have a good day and TA’s sausages are up to scratch x

Hi everyone

I hope you all had a great Christmas, I'm afraid I've not caught up - we all had a relatively tech free Christmas, including Brian who is usually glued to his laptop on Boxing Day searching for bargains.

We had a lovely time at Chris', it was nice just hanging out with the family and the TV didn't go on once over the three days we were there. I was a wee bit stressed out about Christmas dinner as the Aga seemed to be a bit cooler than last year and everything was taking longer to cook. It was ok in the end and we used up most of the turkey in a biriani which was a bit of a triumph, even if I do say so myself.

I was up at 6.00 this morning to take Laura and Brian to Stansted as they are off to the Norwegian Arctic circle for 10 days, I hope they enjoy themselves. Just after they get back Brian starts his new job.

Steve is still in bed so I think I'll take Ziggy out for her run and then come back and pack for the journey to sis-i-l's. I'm regretting saying we would go today now because I could do with sorting the house a bit before we go. Oh well, it will all still be here when we get back.

Good morning all,

I went to bed at half past midnight and I was awake again from 2:20am so I'm a bit tired this morning. The HT didn't wake up until 8am! What a waste of a potential lie-in. The cat is still getting used to being an only cat and last night was not one of her better nights either.

I'm off to the wool shop this morning as there's a sale on and some of my family have asked me to knit hats for them. After that we have a flying visit to my aunty's just to put our faces round the door as it's Christmas. It will be a quick one as she has a chest infection and being asthmatic I catch anything like that very easily.

Take care all of you :)
• Morning all and thank you for starting today's thread silver-oldie.

I had a quiet day yesterday and it was lovely so I am going to have another today. I would be doing the usual Friday Tidy but most of the untidiness belongs to DS and I'm going to leave that for him. I have washing to do at some point. I am envious of the references on here to dishwashers but I suppose that what you never had, you don't miss.

It seems a bit fresher here today, there is a bit of a breeze - yesterday was full and somehow muggy but chilly at the same time.

Our house is stuffed with chocolate but I have felt too stuffed to eat any, though the huge Christmas meals are now over. I think it is the fiche that does for me. We had a turkey crown this year and finished the last of it in a casserole yesterday. I'm not totally mad about turkey but it has been ok and at least with a crown we have not had to eat it for days on end.

We still have enough fresh veg not to need any more for today though I think we've eaten all the salad stuff other than tomatoes.

I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
