Help! Have followed advice so far...but worried

Sorry you lost. Gladstones must think themselves lucky that a Judge was so out of touch with the real world. Gladstones got lucky, normally they get spanked
At least their fake £60 was deducted and if it's true it's because of debt recovery, then the debt recovery company had no dinner for this case4 -
I can't believe that either ... taking a pen and notepad to court seems to me as obvious as remembering to put your pants on.Lotuslady said:In retrospect... can’t believe I didn’t take a pen in.. as didn’t think it was something that would be allowed... (don’t know what I was thinking!?) I think this would be very good advice to give to make sure you do take a pen in on the day to write down stuff that their rep is saying that you don’t agree with and is in your statement proving to be otherwise.
Not only do you need to write down things that the other side's rep says, so that you can rebut them when it's your turn, you also need to write down everything the Judge says when giving Judgment. It's Janet and John stuff.
It's a shame you lost, but this is the risk you take in any litigation - once you walk through the courtroom door, all bets are off, and the only opinion which matters is that of the Judge.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.2 -
Sorry that you lost but unfortunately court is a lottery. It is also very easy to get taken up with the drama of it when you are actually there.
There is also a perception among the legals that represent the PPC's that some judges are institutionally biased against the parking companies. They will throw this in when they are losing which can turn a case.
It's possible that when they report back to the PPC after losing a case that they use institutional bias as an excuse.
You will have learnt a lot from fighting your corner and from what you have said have gained in confidence as a result.
Take care and stay safe

Thanks all for your responses... yes pen and notepad seemed pretty basic, but just didn’t think to as was a bit caught up in Other stuff.... Did feel I fought my corner as best I could apart from that with what I had... and at least they didn’t add on the extra £60 though about £74 with interest! A great lesson learned... hoping other cases will fare better and go prepared with a notebook and pen! And yes Snakes have gained some confidence asa result in my life Re current scenarios, so all good. I don’t see it as a loss!

You will have cost the scammers more than they made from your loss. You did your best and nobody can ask you to do more than that.
I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
