Washer Wiper

I have a Honda Hrv 2001 with a washer wiper problem.

The washer works, the wipers work but when you wash the windscreen the wipers don't come on automatically.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or is it common with these cars?

Thank You

Do you mean when your driving and put the fluid onto the screen they don't come on?

If so I'd look into your wiper motor and see if a fuse has blown or a wire come loose etc, failing that take it to a garage.

I'm not sure but every car I have owned the wipers have come on automatically as soon as you pull the stick to wash the screen.

Yes so i have to move the stick down to put the wipers on when washing the screen.

It sounds to me like maybe something has gone wrong with the circuit board, I'd take it to a garage to get it checked, failing that you'll just have to do it manually i'm afraid.

Might be worth asking on a model/brand specific forum like hrvforums.co.uk

Does the washer need to be engaged for a certain time period?

On an old vehicle of mine, it needed about one second of washer for the wipers to kick in.

My 2005 MK3 Mazda MX5 doesn't have them come on automatically and its 4 years newer than your car and I've replaced the wiper stalk with a variable intermittent one and its still the same on that. As far as I know the generation of my car right up to 2014 doesn't. Not sure about the MK4.
