Vinyl records can be washed -carefully!
Best is to use distilled water (at least as a rinse) with a little detergent (best no to be household washing up liquid as they usually contain salts) with approx 10% meths added. Work into grooves with a soft toothbrush and then rinse. Records can be played when still wet and this can be beneficial with worn ones.
Proprietary anti static record fluid helps prevent further dust attraction and there is a velvet based anti-static cleaner to clean prior to playing. A search on the net will reveal several such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Professional-Record-Cleaner-Solution-Restoration/dp/B009GJEAZW0 -

(Bought it from local record shop - so not a recommendation for this retailer).0 -
Thanks so much for your replies.

I have a Spin Clean record washer that is excellent for cleaning old and dirty records. They aren't overly cheap, but they are a lot cheaper than a record cleaning machine. They can easily be found brand new on eBay, who have a 15% discount code today. The cheapest one on there at the moment with the discount code applied brings it down to £67.96. I paid £90 for mine and feel like it was a great purchase.0

That's what the "report" button is for ...0 -
Dishwasher?,....a dozen LP’s at a time,...perhaps more;
...quick and effortless. :j
Edit: sorry, forgot to mention,...only use this method if the LPs are marked ‘Dishwasher Safe’.0 -
I promise if you throw them in the wash on a 60 with some vanish and daz they'll come out like new and totally unplayable.0

Anyways, have had some success cleaning the vinyl with distilled water from the tumble drier and a soft toothbrush. Haven't yet tried the isopropyl alcohol, but will bear it in mind in the future.
This old hippy seems to have the right idea, lol. I'll post up the link in case anyone finds it helpful.
