Hi,
I've only noticed on my Pay Slip (Online) that since August 2018 my tax code has changed as per below
Before
634L
After
599L M1
It says that M1 is an emergency Tax online, why would this have happened and who do I need to speak to about this? Will I be able to get this money back that I presume I have been paying more money since August 2018?
Thanks

Can you really think of nothing that has changed? Could HMRC be recovering tax credits or some other overpayments? You're best calling them.0

You were already on a non standard tax coding on 634L. This would suggest you may have a taxable benefit of some kind. Has the benefit in kind increased from the submission of the 17/18 P11d? ( the timing of the change would suggest so).0

Contact HMRC to ask for an explanation

As you don't appear to have yet established why your tax code was changed then you cannot know if you paid too much tax.I've only noticed on my Pay Slip (Online) that since August 2018 my tax code has changed as per below
As you created this thread in December it would suggest the change has had minimal impact on the amount of tax being deducted. Otherwise you would surely have noticed your take home pay reducing in August or September.0 -
HMRC use M1 when your tax code changes mid year to avoid the underpayment which would be allocated to the previous months being taken in one go the first month of the change. This method spreads that 4 months worth of underpayments over the remaining 8. You need to find out why the code changed and if it is justified.0

Hi, I have a company car which the 3 year leased finished in August 2018 but I am still waiting from my company what car choices I have available to me this time, but they haven't got back to me as of yet. So do I need to contact HMRC or wait till my company comes back to me about the new car options.0

Does that mean your company car went back in August or do you still have it?0 -
Any other benefits declared on your 17/18 P11d?0
