PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

Having two titles isn't necessarily a problem, if you are the owner of both the leasehold and freehold titles. It is a problem if one is incorrectly registered. There is not much you can do, it is for your solicitor (the current one) to explain what needs to be done. Whether or not an error was made when you staircased is something you can take up with that solicitor once you know exactly what the problem is. Once the solicitor is back from Christmas leave, ask them to clarify what, if any, difficulties there are with the two titles. By the way, having to offer the property back to the housing association is common so I do not think the restriction will be removed.0

Thanks, I stupidly thought that it was only us who would have to offer it back for first refusal rather than the fact that it is attached to the title meaning everyone does. Will contact our solicitor in the new year.0
