I am still waiting to receive my Uncle's car. Grant of probate was issued on 20th Feb 2019. So that means the period in which anybody could contest the will ends on 20th August 2019 right? The executors of the will have been awkward saying that they want to be careful and do everything by the book.

Is there a form i have to sign to receive the car or is it just a matter of signing the V5 and taking the car home?

I do not want to be messed around anymore by the executors who i feel are going to make it difficult for me to receive the car.

The car has been sitting for a long time and it needs to be driven and back on the road.

My Uncle died 4 years ago and probate was granted about 3 and a half years ago. We are still waiting for the final settlement from the solicitors but i have to admit they have been very thorough. they since uncovered a pension abroad and a share portfolio so it pays to be patient.

You've got the key. Just take the blooming thing and let them sue you. Perhaps it will concentrate their minds to complete the DVLA forms. Tell them you have to get an MOT for it.

on achieving Probate, the will is validated

It is the duty of the executors to carry out the wishes and content of the will without undue delay. they may have more pressing priorities ? (who knows, but only fair to ask them)

Perhaps you should write /email them and request that ownership of the car is transferred to you asap. offer to collect it on a certain date and cc the solicitor ?

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to the execeutors months ago and they said they would not release the car to me before the 6 months were up because they were worried about the will being contested and the problems that would cause if i had the car . August 20th is 6 months from when probate was granted so i guess that is the day to give me the car. There has been no sign of anyone contesting the will.
