Was a spend day. Finally got the curtains for the flat for £65. All up and got rid of the old ones in the communal bin. Also got address book for £1, some treats from my favourite shop and somethings from Lu$h which was on sale(can take the bath bombs on holiday with me). Walked the park run.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130

Hi everyone
Just had tea out of cupboards so that's another thing gone!! Another day that I haven't been out so no money spent either. Started the big sort out and a few things have gone down to the CS curtesy of my dd who was going down there to take a few bits.

Evening all
Still trying to keep frugal here. Did a shop today which was supposed to be cheap but when buying OH's coffee I saw it was on offer so stocked up. It will last a good while but it still madr me wince
I s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d some mince into 4 meals today and am trying to get organised as I am returning to work on Monday after a year and a bit off
The dogs are helping with the Frugal lifestyle at the moment. They are still munching their way through Christmas veg and meat (frozen at the time and then defrosted) and topped up with biscuit for teeth cleaning. They are eating their way through a reduced bag of IAMs (£1.05) at the moment, and today I found a reduced bag of a different brand for 75p, lol.
Meal plan done for the week ahead and I'll look at making some lunch tomorrow for work on MondayApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Oh also, to add to the unpaper towels conversation... I've been using old flannels for years now and just fling them in with the clothing wash. The ones for the loo I do on a seperate wash with the dog bedding (which gets pretty smelly itself so I don't see an issue shoving the loo cleaning ones in with it)April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500

Spent £12.58 today, only second day of this year I have spent anything from my purse. £7.58 went on groceries I needed. The other £5 I spent on a scratchcard went towards someone else's jackpot …I have 2 jobs (I hear tomorrow whether one is closing) , both in Customer Services. :grouphug: Hoping the High Street recovers soon..0

Hey!
I'm feeling super motivated with the challenge this year!
I'm trying to clear my old HMRC debt by 2020 and dump the overdraft this year with some frugal living. I;m still working through my budget but I've already noted areas for improvement which are:
- Get rid of Sky TV - I finally got a freeview box.
- Eat less takeaway - I think I'll limit myself to 1 a month, it's defo a problem for me!
- Avoid WANT buys - I've added a section to my spreadsheet with Want/Need so that I have to really think about the purchase I made as this has still been an issue for me the last two years of trying to be more frugal.
Here's to more no spend days! :beer:Frugal Living Challenge 2017: Living on £5,000 a year

I’m in too!i hope I’m doing this right because I’m new. I don’t want to spend any money on beauty products this year (or clothes),so I’m going to really try. I don’t have any debts but I don’t have any savings either.0

Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Spreadsheet updated with yesterdays spends including a breakfast out for me, DH and DS2 but that is all we will have this month as back to work tomorrow.
Dh has made a huge pot of bolognaise which has been portioned up and frozen. I made a pot of mince for cottage pie which has also been portioned up and frozen. Today I am making steak pie filling for the freezer and DH will be making goulash,
Will take down the last of the decorations today and give the house a good clean for me going back to work on Monday. All the washing and ironing is up to date and I plan to strip and wash the bedding today so that gives me a head start this week.
Meals all planned for the forthcoming week and the freezers all sorted so the use up bits and the stuff I need for meals this week are in the kitchen freezer and our stock is in the deep freeze in the garage.
Dh has polished all the shoes for us going back to school/work so we feel like we are set. No doubt we will have forgotten something but only Monday will tell :rotfl:0 -
Good Morning. I've been told i'm frugal....so thought i'd pop in here to say Hi.
For the last 2 years our household spends have only been approx. £12-£13k pa (Including all bills), as we live a fairly quiet life, without feeling like we go without anything. Still had 3 holidays last year! We are a couple, no children, mortgage paid off, and looking to live off our savings in early retirement.
We don't really do many of the things listed in the OP, but we only buy what we need, shop around for everything, use Aldi and Primark. We very rarely get coffee out, takeaways or eat out. Most days are no spend days, as I take own sarnies to work. Excluding DD's for bills, the only spend so far this year has been our usual weekly shop!
So i'd like to subscribe and tag along if I may. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
