    Hi all
lessoned learned: I took my eye off the frugal ball for a couple of months and started to feel quite guilty about it, so back on it now - it was the groceries bill with me as will, but I also sold my little caravan (it had come a very expensive ornament, as I wasn't using it) and grew less on the lottie, so from now Im planning the growing, mending and making. I am still refining my budget for next year as I cant find a couple of receipts and will have to look through bank statements, but that's for the week between Xmas and new year and then I will start posting on the 2020 thread.

  • Morning folks, I am still plugging away. It hasn't been a particularly frugal week this week as I've had various Christmas events on. Today is a department lunch at work - we are ordering dominoes - and our secret Santa swap.

I am looking forward to some time off over Christmas. I really need some down time but I also plan to hit the sales to stock up on cards, wrapping paper and gifts for 2020. I also want to do some sewing to mend a couple of tops and maybe get my crochet hook out again.
  • Hey everyone,

Hope you're having a great Christmas holiday! Is anyone doing this as part of their new year's resolution? It would be great to get some inspiration for this challenge ;)

  • Its pay day tomorrow and I did a tally of my spending this month and I still have £16 spare. I will be putting that in my savings pot tonight. I also still have some money left for food, petrol and other spending so I'm not sure what to do with that. I may keep it there for the time being as in theory pay day isn't until 26/12 but we are getting paid early for obvious reasons. I may just use that money until after Christmas and then that way January won't be such a long month financially.

I made some carrot soup the other night as I had a load of them getting past their best. Its all portioned up and put in the freezer. I'm not "entertaining" over Christmas so I'm all sorted. This weekend is going to be a cheap weekend I hope as I am not planning on going out anywhere. I will be catching up with housework and taking up some curtains for my sister, none of which is going to cost me but it will make me feel good when it is all done.

Its coming up to the time for my gym renewal but I have made a decision not to bother renewing it. I was using it but there was only one class a week that I really enjoyed. The other classes I attended was to just make sure the membership paid for itself and that felt like a waste of money. I have found some other classes local that you pay as you go. It could end up being slightly more expensive but at least I won't be paying for a membership to end up not going because I am ill, the class has been cancelled or I'm away. It may actually work out cheaper. I will have to keep a tally and see how it turns out.

I'm starting to feel like I may have mastered the frugalling lifestyle and now I am looking forward to starting 2020 from day one, rather than a few weeks in, in this vein. Thanks for all the inspiration.

Craftylisa, well done on mastering the craft of frugality! Here's hoping it becomes second nature for you from now and allows you to build up to debt freedom with savings to do with as and when you please, or to work at what you like best whenever you want. :)
