XBox/Microsoft checkout price in USD instead of GBP

I'm trying to change my Xbox gamertag which will cost some money, but when checking out to pay the price is in USD instead of GBP.

I am doing this on a web browser (don't think doing it on the console or app would be different). My Microsoft/Xbox profile already have the country as UK when I first have the account. I would have thought setting the country will determine the currency when buying things.

Please advise.

On the page for changing the Gamertag make sure bottom left it says United Kingdom in brackets.


I did a dummy run and first time it was going to charge me in dollars so went back to previous page and changed it from US to UK.

Thanks for the advice. The current ch is now GBP.

One more thing before I complete the transaction:
When I first had an Xbox, I chose the gametag from a predefined list, as I couldn't think of one myself. I thought changing it to another one that is not from the redefined list will be free? Also I thought you get one free gamertag change?

I also thought you got 1 free change but I'm not so sure, maybe it was sometging offered in the past. I think the only way to change it for free is if you get abuse because of the gamertag.


No you can choose a gamertag that isn't on the list and still have to pay.
