Hi. We currently live in a nice town in the West Midlands as Selly Oak/RCDM was my last posting before I retired from the RAF in 2016. I used to live/work in Gosport when posted to RH Haslar. We have some very good friends who live in Rowlands Castle and whilst we like it there we wouldn’t want to live in their pockets and not much comes up for sale anyway.

I am seeking recommendations for the Hampshire area. We like Emsworth but anywhere else? Schools do not matter as kids grown up. Max 30 minutes drive to the sea. ‘Villagy feel’ with pubs nice.

Don’t just look at Hampshire - West Sussex has places like Southbourne, Nutbourne, Fishbourne etc are all good with great road links. Plus they have stations to get to Rowlands Castle where your friend live.........
30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.

and +1 from me, having lived near Ringwood for 16 years.
Some of E. Dorset were once in Hampshire until the 90s, and would have suited your criteria too. What is your employment status? Do you need good communications e.g public transport with anywhere in particular? What about medical services? As one ages they are essential.

Bournemouth became part of Dorset in 1974, I remember the hoo ha it caused:rotfl: lots of people wanted to stay in Hampshire.
  • Probably looking at spending about £350-375K on a 3 bed. I work in healthcare (background theatre/anaesthetics) as currently re-training as a Paramedic so a nearby ambo hub would be great!

Hampshire is one of the largest counties and has good communications links in some directions and poor in others.
You need to focus on where you'll be based first before you start looking for locations to live as some commutes would be impractical / ridiculous plus it would make no sense to focus on Hampshire since there may be better places in neighbouring counties even if your job is based in Hampshire.
