USA without a car

Your biggest problem is that not having a car restricts you to cities and American cities are shockingly dull compared to American landscape and scenery!
i think a lot depends on the type of traveller - i'm not a fan of long car or bus journeys but am ok with rail - also some US cities have a lot more character than others which seem quite bland0 -
New Orleans for sure. Lots of interest there and good city transport, as well as t
ours to places of interest in the locality. Just about my favourite city!
But to really experience the US you need to get out of the cities to the National Parks and to see the amazing landscapes. Best done under your own steam with a car, but possible on tours0 -
Key West, Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, Las Vegas0

Many many many years ago, I did a long tour of the US by Amtrak - flew to Boston, train to Chicago, then New Orleans, then Washington DC, then New York, finally back to Boston. Spent 3 or 4 days in each place. It was brilliant!!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I wonder why some people from the UK don't hire cars in the US .Obviously some cant drive but I find driving in the US far easier than driving in the UK.
There is lots of space and apart from some cities it is more relaxing .
The big name hire car companies are good value especially if booked through their UK web sites. Fuel is almost free compared with the UK .0 -
