I am trying to sort out a problem on my sons computer. It's a Philips-Iqon running XP.
After a few problems he decided to do a reinstal. All went well until he got a message saying New Hardware was found-Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. He also got a message saying there was a problem installing it.He now sometimes gets a critical error message referenced C0000221 System Root\System 32\ntdll.dll
Looking in Device Manager there are two devices with yellow question marks against them-Multi Media Audio Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible)-both of them say the driver is not installed but both say the Manufactuer is unknown. When I try to update the drivers Windows tells me they cannot be found.
I have downloaded Everest and it tells me the Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VM333M-RZ (3PCI,1AGP,2DDR DIMM,Audio,Video,LAN). I do not know how to tell if the rest of the report will help me solve the problem.
Can anyone help me solve the ACPI problem. Can I get the drivers for the Audio and Video controllers from the Gigabyte website assuming there are integrated in the motherboard.I see Everest recommend a BIOS upgrade because the system is more than two years old. What does this do and could it be part of the problem?

I have a GigaByte board and it's about 6yo but the drivers are all available on the website.
It's quite easy to find your way around and find what you need.
Double check Mobo number to ensure you have the exact drivers required.
IIRC the site can scan your PC and tell you what's required.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Thanks, I will give it a go. I wasn't sure if the drivers were the biggest problem though....I thought the main problem was the ACPI hardware fault...or is that the same thing?
Just been to the site.....I am a bit confused as the exact model does not appear to be there. This is the nearest and there doesn't appear to be video drivers.....
