Hello-can anyone help me please?
Recently whenever I go onto a site linked from another ie when following a link from one of the forums on MSE to another website , I lose the internet connection when I leave that site in order to return back to the original site ie when I follow a link from the MSE forums onto another site its fine until I leave that site to return back to the site that the link came from-the connection is lost every time and its driving me mad.
I rarely lose a connection when not on a "linked" site
If anyone:-
a) understands what im going on about and,
b) is able to suggest a remedy, Id really appreciate it
Ps Ive ran thorough virus check and have firewall and virus protection and a broadband connection

Which browser are you using? Is it set as the default browser? You could try downloading an alternative browser e.g. Firefox, Opera etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

What do you mean by "lost internet connection" ?
Are you getting a warning dialog up saying "Connect" "Stay offline" etc ?
Are you using a router or a modem ? ( A Broadband modem - not a dial up one )
It maybe simply that your internet settings are not pointing to the correct device and your system is detecting what it thinks is a loss of connection.
In Internet Options ( Internet Explorer->Tools->Internet Options ) select the Connections Tab and ensure "Never Dial a Connection" is selected.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
Phoodless-Thankyou-mysettings were on "always dial my default connection"-i changed them as you advised and have been on several sites without any problems.
I think you were right-the message I got was "internet explorer has encountered a problem and the connection has been lost"-I havent had it happen since changing so hopefully you were right-thanks again.0
