  • I think I’ll have to play safe here, even though I didn’t know she was paying. If they’ll accept a nominal payment it might be the best option...

Doesn’t matter who makes payments it counts as being paid.

So you’ll need to ask when the last payment was made because that will be when the 6 year limitation begins from now

so a member of debt collection co can make random £1 payments on accounts at random when they are close to 6 yrs and restart clock ?

I was under the impression that payments by the ACCOUNT HOLDER was the way that a clock restarted

I rang their solicitor who said they could not accept any offer. I get a CCJ unless I pay in full (nearly £7k) because the Court Claim has been issued. Is that right?

Is it their choice whether to accept a monthly amount and cancel the Court Order? Or even a partial settlement?

yes as the full debt including charges is due
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Would it be worth ringing the DCA instead of their solicitors, because they’ve previously offered to accept a lesser amount?
