AA and hospital

I'm aware that after 28 days in hospital my husband's AA will stop. He was in hospital for 14 days (inclusive of going in and coming home days) was home for just over 24 hours and was readmitted. Does the break in stay constitute two separate stays?
He will stay in hospital until a suitable place can be found that can care for him. If his condition continues to deteriorate he will be on End of Life care plan. If placed in a Hospice does that count.
Apologies if this doesn't make sense brain is all over the place.
Just remembered should I have notified the DWP by now. I hadn't expected him to stay in hospital for so long or deteriorate so quick.

You have to be out of hospital for 28 days for the count to start again, so in your husbands case the stays are linked. Note that the day of admission and the day of discharge do not count as days in hospital. So if he is sent home in the afternoon, stays one night at home and then returns to hospital the next day these two days are not days in hospital. In your case it therefore appears that your husband has had 12 days in hospital for his first stay.

If he goes into a hospice he can receive AA while in the hospice.
If you are getting Carer’s Allowance for looking after him then this will stop if his AA stops being paid. Similarly any underlying entitlement to Carer’s Allowance will also stop if his AA stops being paid.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
