Thank you all for your endorsements that sponsoring a horse would be a good idea, the sanctuary is an hour a way so definitely something we could make a day out of
mandco - have you seen the recent reports that putting the tree up now is good for you, maybe Taz is on to something!
toontastic - thanks, we had some in Gran Canaria last year, I think it was 2 for 4 euros! but not seen them since.
princesskitty29 - your stockings sound fab, I'd love someone to do me a stocking! My plan is to always do my two a stocking regardless of their ages
junior_j - I know you're after gifts but I've seen quite a few sloth decorations this year. Will let you know if I see anything.
It's so cold and rainy today, I think I may treat myself to a salted caramel hot chocolate stick i've been saving for such a day (£3 Dunelm!). my cupboard is full of gifts for birthday and Christmas (my girls birthdays a re six weeks today and tomorrow) once they're done I can carry on buying!Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:0 -
Just ordered DH a Luton Town FC personalised notebook as he’s a fan, I think he’ll find it amusing. I’ve bought him a 2020 diary and he uses a diary and notebook at work so I’ll put them together.
LMG it felt like I’d got loads sorted when I wrote all that out but looking at my list of stuff left to buy I haven’t scratched the surface yet! It’s frustrating when you can’t get going with the shopping but what a good reason, and you’ll be able to fill your boots when you’ve moved!
mandco thanks for the Primark heads up, I’m hoping to go shopping next week so will try to pop in there.
noodles me too! The boys are going to get stockings for the rest of their lives! :rotfl: My mum stopped doing me one when I moved out and I do miss it. DH tries his best but it’s not the same!0 -
I'm loving how organised you guys are. Tuesday I am aiming to start mums prezzies , thanks for idea re: decorations and adopting a sloth , I love those ideas.
Working for the next 3 days so doing chores and catching up on my bedroom and stuff inbetween.
I've thought about stuff to do with friends 2 kids , I think maybe a Xmas panto and dinner for their joint Xmas and bday prezzies. Then something between £5-10 to open as we all know the joy of opening a present.
Also keeping my eye out for nice Xmas trees on offer. My biggest task is sorting out quotes to fit a new boiler and pipes as we had a back boiler which has been condemned and they no longer sort back boilers.
Anywho I'm chatting away and need to crack on , got to leave for work at 6pm. Have a lovely afternoon/evening guys xxxNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Mrs Ryan, Not sure if you can post a link on here but if not could you please tell me what to type into SD website to find the slippers? These would be an excellent idea for my SD obsessed Dad - I begrudge buying T-shirt’s and hoodies for every single Christmas and bday! Thank you x0

Love coming on here for ideas, and Wowee are you guys organised! I am taking a stress free, minimalist approach to Christmas this year. I intend not to spend a lot, and will only be buying token gifts for a couple of select family members (and one or two people that I know won’t get presents otherwise). My eyes have been truly opened to how much ‘stuff’ we obsess over this past year, and I’ve spent a long time decluttering my home - so when I’m asked what pressies I would like by family this year, I’ll be opting for useful bits (pj’s and the like) and days/meals out with said people instead of more stuff.
I have bought a couple of things in a recent sale, hankerchiefs for my Grandma who has a bit of an obsession with them (she has dementia), a wallet for my OH son, a few set of socks that were being sold off for my grandad - that sort of thing. But nothing much so far0 -
Some Christmas bits were out in Wilko yesterday, including Christmas lights and a few decorations. They also had the tubs of Celebrations for £3 and looked like they were selling quite quickly. Oxfam also had Christmas decorations on display yesterday. And Primark had some Christmas bits out, including novelty hairbands with reindeer antlers. They also had a lot of Harry Potter stuff out including notebooks and bags themed around the four Hogwarts houses, if anyone still has an HP fan in their circle.
I bought two ice cream sundae glasses from charity shops yesterday, although one of them needs a good scrub in some hot water before I can confirm it's good enough to give as a gift. If it is then they'll go in the ice cream sundae hamper I'm making for my brother and his girlfriend. Wanted to have a look around TK Maxx for some nice bath stuff for Mum but there was a huge queue at the tills and I was already laden down with other things so I left it. Will go back in a few weeks to make a proper dent in the list."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

primark had fortnite fleeces in so picked one up for taz he has a bit of an obsession with fleece blankets so they are always a safe bet regardless of design. They also had some pretty mini tinsel trees picked up a 2ft ombre style blue one £5.
Dd saw some trainers she liked but they didn't have in her size so she brought some different ones so thinking those might be an idea for her if I can get her size online.
Asda have added to their freefrom xmas line and they had the own brand advent calendars for £1.65 so that's another thing off my listthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

Ah maaaaan I wrote a big post and was logged out when I tried to share it!!
TL:DR basically love Christmas, hate waste, 2 small boys, love crafting, trying not to spend much.
I have lots of ideas this year- one being saving loo roll middles to make my own crackers!
Would love to hear about any bargains of an eco-friendly nature that anyone’s found, and ways others are reducing their consumption this Christmas.0
