    Hello all,

I was on this thread many many moons ago. Apparently I last logged into MSE 20th July 2016  I had no idea it has been so long, yet I read and lurk all the time!! Time to join in again I think.

I have two daughters, one twelve and other other six and we live in Leicestershire.

I'm finding as the years go by they're harder and harder to buy for. I'm trying really hard this year to only buy what they actually ask for and not to bulk out their presents with 'extras' as whilst they're appreciative, they're not that bothered by. It is hard though passing up bargains :) I seem to be buying less and less nowadays for family too as we have struck up a don't buy for us and we won't buy for you deal with out family members (bar children).

I love Christmas trees/decorations trying to make my home tastefully Christmas crazy (it's a fine line I can tell you :rotfl:) and I love traditions. We have done elf on the shelf for ten years now. Have special Christmas only mugs. Making cookies for Santa. Our village do a village number advent calendar which is great to walk round.

I love finding new Christmas and other ideas on Pinterest. If anyone else has a Christmas board I'd love to see it? Mine is https://pin.it/3l53h3i3oh54yy I hope that works!
Spreading a little Christmas joy all year round :santa2:

Phew just caught up on all the chatter! I usually drop in read and share very rarely! However although I'm rubbish with replies (usually at least one kid jumping on me) I will try and catch up and share every so often!
Been watching Xmas films this week! Feeling abit xmassy!
Niece is all down for her bday and christmas(Nov bday) have a few bits for my 3 for Xmas but I've decided I need to cut down this they have far too much! Been so busy thinking about Xmas that is forgotten about my nephews bday in 2 weeks although they just want money for him anyway so that's a bonus!
Saving with park as well as doing Asda Xmas savers card and topping up the twsco Xmas savers so hoping to take the pressure off money wise between these and cutting down!
    Here's to a good Xmas!

Hi Noodles and Linz.Noodles what's a village advent calendar? I am intrigued.

It seems so many people are cutting back on Christmas excess.I have but it is easier when there are no young children in the family.

I am still slogging away with the decluttering/selling stuff. No my house isn't empty! You can't tell anything has gone!

More rotten news for me,my lovely SIL has a very aggressive form of bile duct cancer. Not a good prognosis.Very difficult. What on earth can you say in these curcumstances.

    Gotta go.

    Vx

Sorry to hear the news about your SIL VULPIX. There are no words are there?

NOODLES I’d be interested to know more about the village number advent calendar too.

For the past few years I’ve said I’m going to cut down on presents at Christmas but it never seems to work out that way - mainly due to me not sticking to my own limits. Maybe this will be the year it actually happens. Having said that last year I did introduce a cut off age for children becoming adults and moving to the £10 limit for pressies and that’s definitely staying.

We’re off on holiday tomorrow (going to Cardigan Bay in Wales) so I’ll be awol for a week. No packing done yet (the suitcase is still in the loft) so I think it’ll be a busy evening.

Vulpix sorry to hear about your SIL.

I got some very nice artisan earrings for my gran for Christmas so she is now finished. Also got some earrings for my mum from the same shop so saved money on delivery. Also Got some nice shower gel for my dads stocking too.

I found on a site doggy salmon pate so I will buy that for my dog nearer the time. I thought it was a great idea and not bad priced at £1.50 for the medium size and £3.00 for the larger one. All natural ingredients too.

My other nan who is on end of life is in the very last stages so have been sitting with her the past two days. She is still with us but I don’t think it will be long now. Dementia is not a nice disease at all.

    Hope everyone is ok xxx

Vulpix and Treasure Queen- sorry to hear that news. As Peppa says, there aren't any 'words' for these situations x.

    Peppa- have a fab holiday!

Hello Linz and Noodles again x

Nothing Christmassy for me although I have decided I would like a couple of nice keyrings for Christmas. I have a Paperchase gingerbread keyring on my car keys and he has seen better days so I think a nice replacement would be a good idea.

Oh I forgot, I ordered some reindeer for our Christmas wreath making evening (E*ay China) and they came yesterday. I think they look great and will pad out the wreaths really well so have ordered a couple more (there are 4 of us making them).

I cant believe its 1st June! This year has gone so quickly! Its DD's birthday in July so Im gearing up for that (have grand plans to make a hoop cake stand that I saw on Pinterest. It looks easy although they may be famous last words.....:rotfl:) After that and our hols it will be full steam ahead for Christmas prep.

In the interest of a 'self care challenge', I had my eyebrows threaded yesterday. One word- OUCH! (actually there are two words but Im too much of a lady to say the other one..:rotfl:).

The weekend is supposed to be lovely weather which for us means DS making pizza in the garden.
Hope everyone else gets a chance to enjoy the weekend weather xx.
