asking for a person without internet access
will receive state pension on 6th Jul 2020., as checked with gov site he is male and single
has spent a lot of time receiving sickness benefit and then ESA , when out of work he always signed on etc
he has no employers pensions
single
rented social housing flat , at present 100% is paid
pays 20% of council tax bill from benefits
when he receives pension
how much will it be
will his rent be paid separate or will he have to contribute from pension

If your friend is comfortable with you helping them check online, they can find out details of the pension they should receive here:
https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension
Alternatively there may be a phone number they could ring to find out, but I could not see it on the above link0 -
thanks I seem to recall tring to do that before
register:
Choose a way to prove your identity
Government Gateway
Registering with Government Gateway usually takes about 10 minutes. It works best if you have:
your National Insurance number
a recent payslip or P60 or a valid UK passport
ge has not got a p60 or a valid passport
tried again , asking lots of questions
"when did you last have a personal loan" , umm he has not had bank loan for 30 yrs , its booted him out
try again in 24 hrs0 -
I did not have a passport or P60 when I registered, so you should be ok on that front.
The question about a personal loan sounds like it is to check their credit files (most likely for I.D. verification/anti fraud), if so it asks about accounts and dates when they were opened etc to cross reference the details you input with the information held by credit agencies.0 -
well the info must be wrong , nothing on his credit file , and says get lost when you say 5 yrs or more (there is no zero)
so without ringing them next week , I was hoping to get an answer this year0 -
Just ring the Future Pension Service https://www.gov.uk/future-pension-centre
They will send a statement confirming how many years of Ni contributi9nshe has and what Pension is expected to be (based on today’s rates and making assumptions about future contributions if he hasn’talready Got 35 years).
Will also become eligible for Pension Credit which will top the pension upif it is below the Pension Credit amount.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
ok thanks I doubt if they will be open until next year , and the person may be "unable" to confirm / rent c/tax
I believe he will exceed 35 yrs contributions0 -

What they will send is pension forecast. You can then use a benefits calculator https://www.entitledto.co.uk to estimate the rest.
If he is entitled to any Pension Credit he will continue to get all his rent paid and once over pension age could get 100 of council tax paid (I infer his council is one that requires working age people to pay a minimum of 20% of their Council Tax).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. £269.76 / weekly
Our estimate is based on the information you have entered and does not guarantee entitlement. You qualify for the following benefits:
Pension Credit
£163.00 / weekly
Pension Credit consists of two parts – Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit (dependent on retirement date).
Your Savings Credit entitlement is £0.00 , you are not eligible for this part.
Your Guarantee Credit entitlement is £163.00.
Council Tax Support
£17.76 / weekly
You should not have to pay Council Tax as you qualify for full Council Tax Support.
Housing Benefit
£89.00 / weekly
Your Guarantee Credit entitlement is £163.00.
thank you , that was helpful
I have had to state wring dates , Ie 68 because they will only quote for 2018/190 -

To be clear that you understand this. The Pension Credit amount of £163 for a single person is the maximum entitlement (unless additional amounts are applicable). If he gets a state pension that will be deducted from the Pension Credit amount such that Pension Credit makes up the difference. If the pension amount is over £163 there would be no pension credit.
If he has 35 years of NI contributions/credits he would get a state pension of £164.35 and no Pension Credit. I think this would still result in full housing benefit and help with council tax but I haven't checked the calculation.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated.
