I recentley recieved an NIP for speeding 37mph in 30 zone. I have elected to take the speed awareness course to keep the 30yr clean licence.
How do the insurance companies view the course attendance?
Will premiums rise?
Do I need to inform them?
I am currently with th AA ins.
Thanks in anticipation for replies.

Check terms and conditions but most do not ask if you have done the course (Admiral group did for a while but apparently stopped) only if you have points
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Agreed - enjoy the course 3 hours of briefings is well worth not having 3 points for 3 yearsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I'd just take the points as the fine would be cheaper than losing a day's pay and having to travel to the course. Got a clean licence, only had 3 points in 30 years of driving quite some time ago, wouldn't drive in a manner where I'm likely to get any more if I did get 3 and I doubt it would affect my insurance. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. There's another side to that though. You never know when you would be better off having 3 fewer points than you have without the opportunity to take a course. For example, commit an offence where you get 6 points, and you are suddenly just one course ineligible offence away from totting. I would take the course.0 -
Thanks for your comments, seems to have got a minor debate going.
I have booked the course as letter says do the course ---no points and no fine. No brainer. Fortunately I am retired so no loss of earnings.
