PURE GYM & Personal Trainers - Who is liable for refund?
consumer2018
I was introduced to a Pure Gym Personal Trainer when I was inside a Pure Gym facility. The personal trainer was wearing a Pure Gym uniform.
Can Pure Gym absolve themselves of liability in this way? They claim that ALL PT's are fully licensed by them and their T&C specify that only Pure Gym PT can be used inside the gym.
- I booked and paid for 4 sessions with the PT
- The PT showed up for the 1st session then cancelled the remaining 3 and offered a refund. I accepted.
- The refund has not been paid and the PT has not responded to any further requests.
- I wrote to Pure gym and they inform me that PT are self employed so I need to chase the PT myself

Who did you pay, the reception or direct to the trainer?
I believe the PT's are self employed within the gym so the contract is usually with them.0 -
Does the trainer still work at the gym?0

@bris: I paid the PT directly via paypal. It was a payment linked to my VISA debit. Unfortunately because I trusted the PT I paid using Free option to transfer rather than pay for a good or service. But after reading the Citizens advice website I should still be able to claim a chargeback...I think.
It says:If reporting your dispute doesn’t work, you might be able to use chargeback if there’s no money in your PayPal account and you used your debit or credit card to pay through PayPal.
@LilElvis: Hard to say. I have seen the PT name down to take classes but never saw them in the gym at all when I was there. This PT comes across as unreliable I doubt they will be working there much longer.0
