Other house is literally 2minutes away if that0

We returned keys, well gave them to partners sister as we were due to go to see family back in London, landlord is on holiday and back tomorrow but he has called up this morning when it all kicked off, so got the key back off of his sister and took the stuff back straight away. I didn't post on here straight away as I was crying and seeing to my 2 year old daughter0

So how does the LL know the place is a mess if he is on holiday?
I strongly suggest you take photos. However you haven't answered the questions about what type of tenancy you had an whether you gave the correct notice. Also you will owe rent for any notice period which the council are unlikely to pay. Most councils won't offer duel HB for a standard move and if you have had to reapply to your new property it is likely you will be moved onto universal credit if you area has rolled it out.
If your partner or you cannot get work I would recommned council run courses on confidence, assertiveness, anxiety management, interview techniques and the various other skills courses which are typically offered to those seeking work. These not only improve skills but get you out the house and meeting people.0 -
Apparently my partners sister went round there and told him that (landlords words!) and sister is denying it all. His sister rents from him too. The tenancy agreement is/was a 6month one that never got renewed.
I applied for PIP as aswell as depression, anxiety I have type 1 diabetes and a number of other health issues, but after Christmas I am looking into doing an apprenticeship in childcare, as scored only 2 points on pip so just giving up.0 -
And yes we gave correct notice as the council helped us with what to do, as we didn't know. We have had no problems with landlord up till now. He has usually Been very nice and understanding0

So all complete speculation. He said she said.
Take your photos. Keep your inventory. Request your deposit back. Request confirmation the keys have been returned and the tenancy ended.
If he claims deductions that cannot be justified then disupte through the tenancy deposit scheme.
If no deposit was given then as above but without the dispute bit.0 -
The tenancy agreement is/was a 6month one that never got renewed.
If it wasn't renewed then it becomes a periodic tenancy. You still need to give notice that you are leaving, unless you leave on the exact date that the 6 months ends.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We have suggested loads of times that we would set up a payment plan to pay back what we owe - why do you owe anything?! , we have no problems doing that, as we know we owe it, and the council said for us to do that too. But he rang up today shouting down the phone that we have stole money off of him (we haven't)- you have and that the house is a shitole (we have left it how we found it) - well that's his problem, should've done an inventory he said if we don't go back round and sort it he will come to our door and drag us round there - obviously that wont happen , not sure how he knows where we now live either (probably my partners sister!) We have a 2 year old daughter who the landlord said he doesn't give a !!!! about!! - why should he? We have just taken the washing machine and cooker back, but are still extremely scared and don't want to leave our house! - really... come on, time to grow up a bit
Landlord is also saying that we apparently bad mouthed him to the council as that's why we apparently got a council property so quickly and that he is going to ring them when he can to find out, but we really haven't bad mouthed him, all we said was that we needed to move as we was struggling to afford to live there as he wouldn't come round for the rent so the money would just be sat there and when we would be struggling we would end up taking some of the rent money to get gas electric and food! - So you were struggling for money despite not paying rent... Whilst living there we was awarded discretionary housing payment to help cover the full rent, which he knew. I just don't know what to do now and am scared to leave the house. I know we are in the wrong as we owe rent but we are trying to sort it.
There's literally no chance anything will actually happen, the LL is venting, clearly because you took his property and didn't pay rent.0 -

Keep a record of the harassment - What harassment?
Report him to HMRC because I doubt he’s paying tax. - well he didn't get any rent to pay tax on!
There’s very he can legally do to you if you hsvn’t Signed anything and we’re not paying regularly. - Except take them to court...
Even if the place is a ‘shithole’ if there was no inventory it’s your word against his. Saying that taking the oven and wahing machine, which you knew weren’t yours was pushing your luck.
The rent is clearly still owed0
