Please help - I am in meltdown!

I did log into the 192.168.1.1. site to try and get my wifi extender to work, so clicked the enable WPS and saved settings. However, it didn't help so I logged back in and changed it back to disabled again.

Now the router is not showing any wifi signal at all and all the devices that did work (although not brilliantly) can't connect.

Please help:( How do I get the EE Brightbox BB1 router to show wifi again?

Connect with a cable, log in to 192.168.1.1 (the router's administration screen) and the status should show if the WiFi is enabled. If it isn't, or it has been factory reset, go to the Basic screen then select wireless settings to allow you to put things back as they were.

    Thank you.

I always use the router wired connection to my desktop computer, but we use wifi for other devices around the house.

Anyway all was fine until I logged into the admin site and changed the WPS setting to enabled and then disabled it again (wish I had never thought of buying a wifi extender). Now the wifi symbol on the router doesn't even light up. I didn't change anything else at all, so can't understand what has happened.

Step 1 is always switch it off then back on again.:)
If WiFi still doesn't show, what does the status page say in the WIRELESS section? Is WiFi enabled?

I don't have this router and am only going by what the EE help pages say.

    Thank you so much.

When I logged in and checked for some reason wifi was showing as disabled!

When I disabled the WPS it seemed to also disable the wifi totally. Yet when I first logged in to enable the WPS (which at the time was definitely disabled), the wifi worked just fine.

So now I suppose I have to leave the WPS enabled or I will lose the wifi again:(

Does WiFi now work, but the extender is not connected?
If so, you can probably enable the extender without using WPS. The one I have does either. Bit more work to do it without WPS, but it gets it going.

Wifi is working again, but I had to leave the WPS function in the router log in on, as if I disable it the wifi itself gets disabled, which I can't understand as it was okay before. The extender still will not work even with the WPS enabled, so I am going to send it back and forget the whole thing.

It is just all too much hassle.:(

Thank you again for your help.

    What model extender is it?
I have a TP-LINK one and configured it without using WPS even though it will utilise it. Was actually quite easy to do. Could be less hassle than returning it if you really need to extend your WiFi a bit.

It is a Netgear (N300 range) WiFi Range Extender.

Perhaps I should get in touch with EE and ask for a better router. Wonder if that would help?

Worth trying the "Connect with Web Browser Setup" section of the instructions. Maybe even factory reset before you start to eliminate any existing settings it has.

Oh believe me, now that it is working alright I won't be touching anything to do with improving Wifi again:eek:

It is just not worth the stress it causes me.
