  • Still 50% in the large shopping centre Boots I visited this morning, although they seemed to br putting out more stuff onto already very loaded shelves.

I've not actively been to the sale for several years but I was surprised at the amount of gift sets there were this year, still very overpriced at 50% and not really much that would be tempting at 75% either.

Sadly won't be able to make it this year as my 93 year old mother is having a cateract operation on Friday. Still this year is a book year with nice books purchased from the works and I will add to them later.

Hope it goes well Lavendar :)

Been for a scout round mine i preparation for the day. Seems a bit sparse though this was also the case last year and then on the day there were 3 huge crates of random gifts on the shop floor. Hoping that this will be the case this year.

Plenty of Soap and Glory bubble tins left but even at £18 I feel I can live without it.

Also a fair few Laura Ashley £40quid gifts, would be nice for my Mum but she won't use some of the items in it so even at £12 I won't bother.
  • Does anyone know what the stock in Epsom is like? Missed the past 2 years as Wednesday was much better than Friday for me! Not sure whether to pop in before work.
  • Does anyone know what Meadowhall stock is like please? Only really wanting a few Sanctuary and Soap & Glory for myself and mum to use. Not bothering buying gifts this time.
  • Will this be online at all?

Can't help but feel this year (and perhaps previously) prices have been inflated at full price to account for profit margins at the 50% / 70% sales and to encourage people to really but 3 for 2 in order to feel like they are getting a decent deal.

Definitely inflated to cover the pre Christmas 3for2, no way is some of the stuff worth what the marked price is. I'd much rather buy 1 at a third cheaper than have something 3for2 with 1 of the gifts just there to make the deal up.

The Star Gifts are a bit of a joke too, I mean, £60quid for the Soap and Glory bubble tin when it's always going to be on offer at half the price. Bearing in mind the range is on 3for2 probably two thirds of the year its probably not even worth the £30 quid price point.

When I used my Sanctuary bubble bath I noticed it said made by Cussons. I sometimes pay £1 for their bubble bath and to be honest is not much different. So I do think the branded gift stuff is also overpriced.
curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!
