Hi All
My new job means I have to take a flight atleast once a month. I hence am looking at the lounges option as I start early and fly back late.
I am also able to book the flight with amex flights if I need to.
Anyway, I as wondering, does anyone know if the membership rewards can go against the £450 a year fee? Otherwise I can get a lounges pass for approx £300 a year.
Thanks in advance

In a roundabout way, yes - you can use them to pay for purchases made with the card, 0.45p per Membership Rewards point (1,000 points = £4.50), but it's a poor value use of points.

If this is work related travel then won't your employer refund the cost of lounge entry? (assuming that they won't pay for business class travel or that you won't be doing enough travel to acquire status with one or more airlines)0

If I were you, look at the benefits of the account and if you feel you can meet the requirements to reap the benefits then go for it.0

cheers for replies.
My work has paid for priority pass but my wife has started to also travel and her work wont. Hence if I also got a amex card she would get a supplementary one.
I though am travelling ever month now to scotland so looking at the options to get more access as my priority pass is only for 10 visits.0 -
The Santander World Elite Mastercard gives access to over 1000 airport lounges worldwide, it costs £180 per year.

You have to hold a Santander Select account - but there is a practical workaround if you can afford savings to fund and maintain a Santander Select at (best benefit level of £20,000) and a Lloyds Club account at £5,000 - both pay out monthly interest at 1.5%, although the Select has a £5 monthly fee, but it also pays out on monthly household bills, just like the Santander 123.
Happy to expand if you want to consider this further.0
