  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one especially Holly, I hope you have a decent Christmas with your family. Wee Midge, I know where you are coming from, my eldest son divorced himself from me years ago, he only visits his Dad when he wants something, never sees his two sisters. I am afraid I stopped worrying about him years ago. I cannot do right for doing wrong.

We are having pork for supper tonight, the turkey is in the fridge defrosting, I could cook it from frozen but it takes ages......and the kitchen gets too hot I end up having the back door open.

No plans for today, will do the veg shortly, so all I have to do is cook it later. I made a bread and butter pudding last night from some stale hot cross buns I had in the fridge, the buns have softened nicely, I will cook that later too.

A very grey dull morning, no idea how cold it is have not been outside.

Tomorrow I need to have a bit of a clean round. I am going to have to look for another cleaner yet again, my present cleaner has whooping cough and no idea when she will be fit enough to return. I really do not want to have to clean a room a day, it would be like painting the forth bridge!!

I am trying to work up enough enthusiasm to put up a few decs. To be honest I just cannot work up the energy. This has been a bad year for me taking care of OH has really drained me. He really does not need carers now, but he is still very demanding if you know what I mean.

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Yukky damp and dreary start to the day here, laying water everywhere and still raining, it's obviously been raining since sometime in the night.

DH in the bath, both boys surfacing, we're all just chilling. Boys and myself are going to my parents for dinner later, DH isn't coming because we'll end up eating quite late and he doesn't like eating late and he has work early in the morning. I'll be cooking a lunch here of chicken and chips, it's DH's choice, I'm fine with that, easy to do and I'll have jacket potato and side salad.

Yesterday we went to visit DH's grandad and take his prezzie, he's already rang this morning saying how nice it is (I always get him fruit in alcohol) as he has everything he needs and really enjoys that. I made a cheesecake for taking to mum's and dad's later, so I'm planning on an easy day, I'll probably get the table set and laid so that's a job done out the way, tomorrow I'll just then collect fresh meat hamper from the butcher and prep the food that needs it, I'm aiming to be finished by 3pm tomorrow. It'll be a first is so, as I'm normally doing it late into the night.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all. No plans really today, have friends visiting today, will hear all the stories about the night out I missed...No bra today, wore it yesterday till late evening, rubbed on the wound a bit, but nothing is wrong, just a bit sore [ I am a certified dumb*ss, but happy with duoboobs :)]
Do have to go shopping for the one thing I forgot, which was dreamies for the little prince, he was not hapy last night without them, or this morning....
I have no presents to wrap, since I haven't been out until yesterday, except a voucher for my sister. Thanks to being on SSP I am also becoming slightly skint, so no big pressies this year. Will probably be able to go proper shopping next week maybe which is handy with sales...
Beef will be taken out of freezer toorrow, house will be hoovered today and that's about it really.
Nelski, I didn't recognise you!! snoozer, the food sounds lovely, Im salivating..TA, sounds busy, but take care of yourself too. Wee Midgie, sorry about your efforts coming to naught, good job she didn't do that to you on a day where you wanted harmony. Maybe she'll appreciate it later on. You can always ask her for it back and put a Darth Vader helmet on her sisters face if that'll make her feel better. It's still bloody ungrateful though....Nanny, hope Mr Fixit is not doing the man thing and creating five sausepans for every cooking step. Csarina, I'm not surprised, it is really draining taking care of someone, some stuff will just be missed, just relax and go with the flow...Hope you're doing OK Poppy and your son uses his talents on you this year. Holly, hope you're doing OK too.

I'm jealous of you all cooking up a storm, I love food, and i like cooking, and reading about all of your makes me itchy....However, I have some puff pastry so I may join in the sausage roll-a-thon....
Happy pre Eve Eve, hope it's the kind of day you want to have and if it can't be, totally ignore it and lie in bed with chocolates and cheese [and sausage rolls?] and wine and rum and sherry :)

    Good morning all,

Snoozer £18,500!!! Someone is having a laugh....

I knw. Chris asked him for a cost breakdown which he was very reluctant to give then gave a cursory one which included 10 days labour at £400 a day and sundry bits and pieces at £5,000. Hopefully yesterday's man will be more reasonable, he seemed very knowledgeable.

I popped to Tesco and met an old friend I haven't seen for years. He and his wife only live in the next village so we must get together soon. Their son works for an aid agency and has been to lots of troublesome places, at the moment he's in Iraq - I worry about my two in Britain so I'd be a wreck if they did what he does.

Been into town and now back. No big crowds at all, maybe I was early enough to miss them.

Bought DM slippers, too small so they have to be exchanged. The cords I bought her the other day are too big, they have to be returned via H ermes so I’ll take them to the drop off point tomorrow too. Bought myself some new knickers - can’t bear the blue/gray ones any longer. :j Had a wander into W aterstone’s, a couple of books jumped into my bag! The bus home was empty apart from me.

Now it’s very foggy outside, and very cold. I almost went straight back to change the slippers but decided that the nasty weather put me off. I’ll go first thing tomorrow morning, I’m so much more energetic before 2pm. Then I slump.

Oh, WeeMidge - that’s so hurtful of your daughter! :( A polite ‘thank you’ is not beyond her I’m sure. There must be a filter between brain and mouth that needs switched on. Sometimes being the better person is an invitation for pain.

Taff - watch that wound! Congrats on wearing a bra again. :j

Tru - thanks for the lovely hymn.

    Snoozer - some mistake, surely!

Cup of tea time, got to warm my bones.

10 days labour! It usually takes a day to a day and a half at the most to replace a boiler. Allowing for it to be complicated then maybe two days....For a start point ask for a quote from British Gas. Anything else they get quoted that is more than that is just wrong.
  • It is the afternoon and I have not got on with things at all. I have a list.

So I'll just go and ring up my oldest friend instead, it is her birthday, she may be busy though as she has a big family.

Will check back later but before I forget, Snoozer, that amount us mad! Nelski I hate going to the hairdresser too, I had my hair cut into a straight bob about 4.5 years ago and now it is reaching my waist so I'll have to bite the bullet soon. How can something so boring be so expensive.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Cranky, unfortunately BGs wouldn't quote because they have an AGA which also heats water. However they have now decided to take the boiler out of that and just use it as a cooker, Ago no longer make them with boilers and they are very inefficient.

    Good afternoon everyone :santa2:
Well I am Mrs Smuggy smuggington the third today as I have had my shopping delivered and had lots of substitutions which have worked out well in my favour but the absolutely best one is my cheapo frozen turkey crown was substituted for a magnificently huge fresh one and they have only charged me £6 :D:D:D:money::D:D:D. We will now have lots of leftovers which is fab as that late night turkey sandwich can be the best bit sometimes.

The cupboards are full, we have gas and electric topped up and the washing baskets are empty, happy days! Steve is enjoying his first weekend off for the holidays and the kids are floating around the place on their phones and laptops. I have had a little nap and feel better now after just 2 hours sleep last night and I have a large cup of tea getting to the perfect temperature to drink.

The grandkids are coming here tomorrow for the morning so we are going to get out some board games to play. Other than that we have nothing else planned apart from the traditional vegetable prep. Lee has asked to be on sprout duty so thet is taken care of.

Lovely to hear all about your different days, I feel very blessed to count you as my virtual friends. Hope you continue to have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
