what to ask when buying share of freehold

    I would think for an asset like a freehold there is the value of the asset and that is what people are buying into or selling or just transferring if it is 1to1 for each lease or some relevant ratio based on property size/value/contribution to maintenance.

    The value of that at any time is what it would be worth, initially for each leaseholder that value is based on what costs they no longer need to pay later, and a share of any payments from the leased that don't own part of the freehold, as more people buy a share the value goes down not up as once everyone is in the is little value left as the leases get extended at cost and ground rents don't raised any money.

    The funds held and raised from service charges are operational should be ringfenced
